A Mighty Fortress | Physical Print
This stained glass image honors Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott—A Mighty Fortress Is Our God—written by Martin Luther in the 1520s. Often called the “Battle Hymn of the Reformation,” it boldly confesses Christ as our refuge in the face of sin, death, and the devil.
Rooted in Psalm 46, this hymn reminds the faithful that though the earth gives way and nations rage, God is our strength and shield. The open hymnbook and musical staff proclaim the enduring role of sacred song in the life of the Church—music that not only adorns worship but also teaches, exhorts, and strengthens faith through the Word.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1 (ESV)
