Why Podcasts Are Growing and How Churches Can Benefit

Podcasts let us learn, reflect, and share faith anytime, anywhere.

Podcasts have quietly become one of the most powerful tools for sharing stories, teaching, and connecting with people throughout the week. They fit right into our busy lives. We listen in the car, while making dinner, or even during a walk around the neighborhood. That’s part of why podcasts are growing so quickly in popularity.

For churches, this presents an exciting opportunity. A podcast is more than just a recording of Sunday’s sermon. It can be a way to reach people who might never walk through the doors of your sanctuary. It can be a space for conversations about faith and life that encourage members, connect with the wider community, and remind listeners of God’s Word wherever they are.

When it comes to hosting podcasts, I often recommend Podbean. To be clear, Phoenix Anthem is not affiliated with them in any way. I simply appreciate how easy they make the process. Their platform is user friendly, and it does not take long to get a podcast uploaded, organized, and available on popular listening apps. For churches that may be new to podcasting, that simplicity is a big blessing.

I see podcasts as the new form of radio in our digital age. When Jesus called His disciples to be “fishers of men,” He was reminding them to go where the people were. Today, that means going where people spend their time online. Door knocking, cold calling, and mailers simply don’t connect the way they once did. What matters now is a strong online presence. That’s the heart of From Pulpit to Platform—helping churches bring their message into the spaces where people are already listening.

The beauty of podcasting is that it strengthens your church’s visibility online. Search engines index your episodes, people can share them with a click, and suddenly the voice of your congregation carries farther than you might expect. A Bible study series, a pastor’s reflections, or a simple weekly devotion can reach hearts well beyond your local community.

If you have ever thought about how your church can share the Gospel in new ways, podcasting may be the next step. I would love to help you explore what it could look like for your congregation. Pastors, if you’re interested, reach out and let’s talk about how we can bring your church’s message into the world of podcasting.
